couple of days ago. >> so are we. >> john rooney, thankful to a teacher at your alma mater, shrewsbury borough school. >> my grammar school friend debby buck happens to be here. >> you stacked the deck. >> happy thanksgiving. >> ciao. fox extreme weather concern. wintery blast. i'm gretchen carlton today. welcome to "the real story." this storm is blamed for car crashes and 11 deaths. now it's pushing its way east bringing slick conditions. up to a foot of snow in spots from pennsylvania to new york to new england. of course, we have fox team coverage for you. we are covering the skies, molly line the trains. first, chief meteorologist rick reithmuth. i know you usually like to have

good news for folks. what's up with the weather pattern? >> there's good news tomorrow. the storm is pretty much gone tomorrow. >> yeah. >> if you're driving tomorrow, the roads will be good. storm is ending this evening. behind it, much colder air and windy conditions move in. then we'll start watching another storm for sunday. the return trip,gretchen. the storm has moved through the southeast and tonight it is going to be very cold all the way down towards dixie. 33 degrees in new orleans tonight. 34 montgomery, alabama. the front has moved through. it will be a chilly thanksgiving across areas of florida as well. as you move down here across the south, the front is gone, the rain is gone but the cooler air will move in behind it. we're still dealing with it from around parts of north carolina all the way up to the eastern seaboard. the snow is getting in here. we will see some of the snow make its way towards not too far

off the coastal areas so if you're driving later on this afternoon and into the evening, be very careful across the roads. we'll be done with this by tonight and then a better condition moves in for tomorrow. >> gretchen. >> such weird weather. today in new york, 60 degrees. tomorrow, 25? >> exactly. 60 degrees in the middle of the morning. we had a high temperature by 2:00 tomorrow morning. tomorrow we'll be lucky to get above freezing. >> that storm is making road travel a lot trickier. it's also delaying folks to hope to fly home. steve, what's the latest? are flights getting out? >> reporter: yeah, flights are getting out and they're coming in. there are some cancellations though, not only here but in philadelphia and in newark and at laguardia airport in the new york area. they've had the worst problems here at national people taking it in stride and expressing relief and surprise that things aren't as bad as they had expected. there are 536 flights canceled at the nation's airports today

alone as that weather system continues moving on through the east coast and out to sea. the best advice as always, arrive early. check with your airline to make sure your flight hasn't been delayed or canceled. 3 million folks are expected to fly on this weekend. call ahead and be patient. >> thanks a lot, steve. that weekend weather leaving trains stuck in their tracks. molly line. molly, is it better on the rales? >> reporter: oh, it is a little bit better on the rales. we've seen some delays along the day. big board at south station in boston, everything posting on time right now, but it has been crowded here today. tough to find the seats. amtrak says there's still a few left in the upcoming days. if you have time you could avoid the roadways and stick with the trains. we know from amtrak officials there have been a few downed power lines and trees along the new haven area

-- providence area. they're trying to make sure people get where they're going especially by train and helping people make sure they can get where they're going. >> now to washington, fox news alert. brand new setback for obama care. the administration just announcing the federal health care website will not be able to handle small businesses for at least another year. so in the meantime, they'll have to sign up through other chams. chief washington correspondent james rosen live from the white house. i find these announcements interesting, james, the day before thanksgiving. >> that's right. this announcement, gretchen, comes just not on thanksgiving eve, when americans are preoccupied with things other than the news, but the four days before the semi-relaunch of the obama website. it shows that that enterprise is encountering major problems. hhs announced that the current december 15th deadline for small businesses to enroll their

employees and if they're willing to use some other means to enroll them has been extended for one week, tease 23 december. if it seems confusing, it is. president obama said owe comma care has had a quote, unquote, rough launch but he said his signature law is already, quote, responsible for a slowing in the rate of growth for health care costs. with each passing day prebus said it's clear how much worse obama care is worse than a website full of glitches. the administration has made a whole sale change because of the disastrous impact it's having on americans. it's time we stop trying to fix it and start over with common sense reforms. from within the president's own party, the democratic party,

there are also signs of growing anxiety. seven senators have signed a letter to the president urging him to appoint a permanent individual to oversee it. all seven of the senators are democrats. five of them are up for re-election next year. a sixth is due to face the voters in 2016, gretchen. >> ah, politics. james rosen, happy thanksgiving. good to see you. >> reporter: and to you. all of this amid mixed messages from the white house. asking allies not to drive traffic to healthcare.gov so it won't crash this weekend. remember when it's supposed to be fixed. and the president's point person urging people to log in and sign up. here's kathleen sebelius just yesterday in a conference call with state officials. >> i would urge you and your folks on the ground to not hesitate to recommend that people go to healthcare.gov and

get signed up. >> steve hayes, senior writer for "the weekly standard" my guest and weekly fox news contributor. great to see you, steve. >> reporter: hey, gretchen. >> what do you make of this mixed message and does it come from the very tippy top? >> reporter: yeah, i think it certainly does. you've seen all sorts of indications from the administration that, a, the website is not going to be ready when they said it was on december 1st and, b, the problems beyond the website are much more willing that is to let on. you see that with the discussion with james about the small business administrations, back for another year, november 2014. and the indications already through leaks and in public statements from secretary sebelius and others are that this website that we were promised was going to be functioning on december 1st will not, in fact, be functioning and could be in for another

collapse. >> it was interesting because james also pointed out seven democratic senators signing this letter to the president urging him for a permanent c oe o to take over the website, to control it and make sure it works when jeff sykes leaves january 2nd. a project of this kind demands a sustained leadership and day-to-day management of the a chief executive officer. who is that person going to be? is the president going to listen to these senators? >> i have absolutely no idea who that person can be. i think the focus is in the wrong place. the problem isn't primarily the website. that's certainly a symptom of the larger problem, which is that the plan is unworkable and unwieldy. this gives these senators, as you noted, several of whom are

up for re-election in 2014, something to point to. it looks like they're actually trying to do something to solve the problem. it's something they can take to their voters when they get, as they already are, continued grief about their support for the president's reforms. >> right. >> i don't think it will actually have much substantive value going forward. >> yeah, the interesting thing is they can't get away from the fact that they all voted for obama care. before i let you go, steve, i have to show you this video that the president was out on the west coast in hollywood, and he ran into actor jim parsons. he's a star on "the big bang theory." should he be saying, parsons, we need you in washington? >> yeah. i'm not sure. i'm not sure make believe computer geeks are going to solve the problem at this point. it might be better than what

daring rescue all caught often camera. a police officer in new jersey running up to a car on fire. the victim was up conscious. you see him pulling him away from da then running back to the truck to make sure no one else was inside. the officer, a seven year veteran, said he was just doing his job. the 61-year-old man he rescued in critical but stable condition. as problems with obama care multiply, the administration is desperately looking for good news. democrats heading home for

will they be able to find the positive stories about obama care? >> the problem is the media is negatively faced on negative stories. there's a whole bunch of positive stories which are most of the people in america, the smaller percentage that the media has glommed on to. they think that makes better copy. >> leave it to democrats to ruin a perfectly good holiday to say we have to look for success stories over the holidays. listen, i am not a crisis expert, but if you're urged to go out and find the positive stories about obama care, you might be in trouble. >> they're in trouble. >> some people do think it's ironic that you don't think the media is picking up on the positive story. >> when is the last positive person on your show about obama care? >> i give republicans and democrats a chance every day. >> not just here but everywhere

after an attack. it happened after the daily show. the tiger went up on a timed leg dragged the trainer into the pool biting him on the shoulder and the arm. the tiger was not acting out of aggression and won't be removed from the zoo. outrage over a tragic car crash that killed two young women. kaitlynn ferante on the left and marissa katronio on the right. they were on their way after celebrating marissa's 21st birthday. no charges are filed yet against mendoza. she tweeted, 2 drunk 2 care a few hours before the crash. the first name spelled differently than hers. her family says her account was hacked. joining me, gary, father of marissa who died on that day. gary, i can't imagine the pain that you feel.

i'm a mom, too. i just can't imagine the pain. it's so brave of you to come on the show and talk about the memory of your beautiful child. what do you think happened that night? >> well, marissa, you know, she had curfews. they were out as a casual night with girlfriends and, you know, heading back home and it was about the 2:00 hour when i -- my wife said, marissa's not home yet. and i went to icloud her phone and saw she was on the saw crass. i told her that marissa is on her way home, she's on saw grass. so i tried to refresh it because i could see the car moving. so i went to my laptop and i said, the car is not moving. then we had word that there was an accident on the freeway and i said, it's marissa. we've got to go. so we phoned families and friends, went to the scene where they wouldn't let us onto the freeway, they just kept telling us that the sergeant will be with you.

finally when the sergeant came down to us, said, yes, your daughter was involved in an accident out there and they transported her to a medical hospital for treatment and they escorted us there to the hospital at that point. then 5:00 in the morning they came to us and said the words you don't want to hear. we regret to inform you that your daughter was killed instantly on the scene. >> i'm so sorry, gary. >> no parent ever wants to hear that. >> i know. i'm sorry. >> i'm sorry. >> no, no, i'm so sorry for your loss. i think this case has gotten so much attention because of this alleged tweet that was sent out by the woman who was driving the other car, 2 drunk 2 care. now her family says that her account was hacked. the sheriff says they're waiting for toxicology. no charges will be pending any time soon. what's your reaction to the fact that the family said her account was hacked? >> well, everybody's going to have their views on things, you

this storm system creating holiday weather travel havoc. millions of travelers plan to be on the move today. rain and snow clogging packed roadways. rick is back with your travel forecast. hi, rick. >> gretchen, a lot of those roadways that are wet are going to freeze quickly. when the cold front comes through, it's going to drop the temperatures down rapidly. be prepared for that if you're driving later on tonight or tomorrow morning. airport delays, right around an hour across new york city. newark, 30 minutes. the worst has been the philadelphia airport. low cloud ceilings. they can't let as many planes take off as they normally do. if your flight is dependent on those airplanes, then you're delayed as well. the cold air has cleared out. tonight is the co you've seen. tonight we have four to six hours before we're done with this storm. by midnight tonight, future

them tight and low to the ground. >> rick, we'll see you out there tomorrow. >> yeah, you will. a new concern about obama care by "the washington examiner." many doctors and hospitals are refusing to join the obama care exchanges, meaning, when you need care and want to go to one of the top places for it, i may not be able to do that. dr. ben parson is a fox news contributor and a surgeon and so much more. good to see you, dr. carson. >> good to talk to you. i usually talk to you really early in the morning. this is a much nicer time. >> i think so, too. thank you so much. so what do you make of this latest study that shows that some of these top hospitals, a lot of them in new york, but 15 other cities, people are not going to be able to get the top doctors that they want if they're in the obama care exchanges. >> well, you know, the very sad thing here is for the sake of the 15% of people who didn't have good health insurance, we've turned the whole system upside down. yes, a lot of people who were

used to being able to go to top hospitals won't be able to do so. a lot of people who went to top specialists won't be able to do so. these are only the early ramifications. there are a lot more things coming up as you go on. many areas of the country, up to 70% of doctors are not participating with the exchanges. again, you're going to limit people's choices. >> so you had written a column and you'd say this bill was passed under false pretense and shouldn't we give sort of a second chance at it. what would be the solutions that you would want to incorporate to make it better? >> well, i think there are two choices -- two reasonable choices. you can go back and revote on the bill with all the facts on the table so that it's fair and it's not some kind of sham or you can start looking at some of the many plans, you know, the ones that i've advocated is health savings accounts which are working very effect tiflly in many parts of the country.

you know, there are things that we need to do with it to make it a more national program, but whatever we come up with, i don't think we should force people into it. it should be so appealing that people will happily migrate towards it. that's what we've done in the past. that's what the free market is about. when you take the government and impose it upon a free people, this is what you get. dr. ben carson. we'll have you on again. >> i don't think so. >> happy thanksgiving. >> same to you. you may want to think again before you write a negative review of an online company, especially after what happened to jen and john palmer. utah couple didn't receive a gift they ordered from clear gear.com so they posted a negative review. clear gear fined them $3500 claiming the company violated a nondisparaging remark.

they spent a lot of money, and we're talking almost a million bucks, that they were not entitled to, at least that's what she's saying. they weren't entitled to. if i am the prosecutor here or the plaintiff going after them for the money, i'm saying, hard drug use enabled them to do this because she was out of it. so they just took advantage of a sick person. >> well, or the other side, jhonna, was that her drug use was a secret and these ex-assistants she allowed them to spend lavishly on her credit card to keep the secret a secret. >> that's why the character evidence which would not normally be allowed. i can't say arthur is a bad guy to prove that he was a bad guy. the judge made a ruling here. it's not her character that's part of her. the character is part and parcel of the defense. the jury system is saying, wait, she let us use it because she had a secret and we were keeping it for her.

we are hearing the newly released 911 call crash in texas that sent three of willie nelson's band members to the hospital. it plowed over a pillar 70 miles east of dallas. it happened last weekend. tmz has the 911 by a man who saw it all mapped happened. >> we have got some hurt people here. i'm going to see. and there is a tour bus. two of them come by me. said some people are hurt. they are all alive. amazing they are alive. >> willie nelson himself not on the bus at the time. but his drummer broke his hip. two other band mates suffered bumps and bruises.

the tour will resume next month. two other couples facing charges for alleged imprisonment in tucson home. now we are learning new details about the girls' ordeal and how they escaped. trace gallagher with this unbelievable story. trace? >> minutes ago sheriff released horrifying details. we know the girls were 12, 13, and 17 years old. still very unclear exactly how long they were held anywhere from several months to two years. the girls had not seen their older sister because they were separated separated in leao years. the girls escaped out a window yesterday morning when their stepfather began chasing them around with a knife. they ran to a neighbor's house and called 911. the neighbor had no idea they even lived at the house. police say the girls were mal-nourished and filthy, claiming they hadn't taken a bath in six months. here is the police chief. >> there was means of which they were imprisoned by a variety of means,
